Custom linear drain

This classic bathroom design is the result of the customer ideas and our expertise in custom shower building. This renovation project took place in a condominium building in Montreal. The original plumbing configuration and building bylaws imposed limited design options. After the demolition of the original  en suite bathroom, we had to reevaluate the positioning of the new shower and vanity. At the end, the new linear drain was reconfigured with the original bathtub piping. The drain basin had to be custom built with a vertical drain pipe in order to accommodate its installation against the shower back wall. Also, the original bathtub was eliminated to make room for a more spacious walk-in closet. As a result, the new shower was designed with an open concept style to compensate for the loss of space in the bathroom.

Once the electrical and plumbing was reconfigured, a new electrical heated floor was installed over the existing concrete slab. We then leveled the floor with a traditional mud bed preparation, and followed with uncoupling and waterproofing membranes.

A top quality, light color and large size (18”x36”) porcelain tile was selected for the walls and the bathroom floor. The shower was built barrier free, doorless and with a clear glass wall to increase the sense of space. It also featured a custom tile niche and the same large tiles flowing seamlessly from the bathroom floor. The end result is an open classic design with plenty of light and space that will never go out of style.
