The original tile installation for this condominium entrance had failed after years of continuous water infiltration. As a result, the surface was demolished and the concrete was resurfaced with adequate floor slopes. Flamed granite was chosen for the tilling because of its durability and its non-slippery properties. The new tile assembly incorporated a uncoupling and waterproofing membrane, specialized installation mortars/grout and several expansion joints.
In 2009, this project reached the Canadian tile industry finals in the stone tile category. As such, we received an honorable mention from the TTMAC for the meticulous surface preparation, the choice of installation materials and our craftsmanship.
