Private spa & gym

2010 award: Best residential project in Canada

For the second consecutive year, and in association with Schluter-Systems, the TTMAC handed us our second industry award as the best residential project of 2010 in Canada. The industry honored us for our exceptional craftsmanship for the surface reparation, waterproofing and tile installation of this private spa project – Original concept and design by Kanva Architecture. Located in the basement of a Montreal private residence, this room is adjacent to a gym and a Turkish bath. This private retreat features a full size bath and spa and is equipped with a truly huge 24×24” rain style shower head for a full water massage body experience. The shower duckboard floor completes the serene room ambiance with its exotic wood and tropical style. Both, the spa and gym rooms are tiled with large format porcelain tiles, perfectly aligning between the floors, walls and across the rooms. The tile installation hides a delicate and important substrate preparation. That is, a sloped sandcoat mortar bed with a system of expansion joints, uncoupling and waterproofing membranes to prevent water infiltration and structural movements from compromising the tile assembly.
