Small bathroom design
The biggest challenge with small bathroom design is to maximize available space by making it more airy and functional. In this small basement bathroom renovation, we have used our expertise in custom shower design to make just that. The new bathroom and shower structures were reconstructed with polystyrene construction boards for thermal and stability considerations. The old concrete floor was leveled with an in-heat floor system to reduce the ambient humidity from the basement and for maximum comfort. And all water exposed surfaces were waterproof using the Schluter-Systems bathroom membranes and Kerdi-Drain.
The new wall tiles consist of a classical 4×18″ white glazed ceramic intercepted by a round glass mosaic at waist height. The floor features a black granite at the door entrance with a non-slippery 2×2″ black mosaic across the floor and into the shower. The old shower curb and bulky door framing gave way to a new easy access curbless and doorless shower with a sleek glass wall and a stylish grab-bar.
